BIC Africa’s online Boot Camp brings together Business Incubators from Somali and Comoros

BIC Africa’s online Boot Camp brings together Business Incubators from Somali and Comoros

The two-day online Boot Camp, which was held on Monday 13th and Thursday 16th of February, brought together 20 practitioners from the three Somali business incubators participating in the BIC Somali project and also several business incubators invited from Comoros. The online Boot Camp was organised for those incubators who could not participate in the physical Boot Camp held in Brussels in November 2022.

This two-day training event provided the hub managers and staff with the practical knowledge required and best practices to build a strong startup ecosystem.

On the first day, the Boot Camp was focused on the identification of the main barriers and challenges for entrepreneurship and business incubation and gave participants an insight into potential solutions to address the main challenges they are facing specific to their country context.

On the second day, the participants were invited, using the business canvas model, to prioritise and focus on the main activities and the main framework conditions for entrepreneurship support that incubators can develop in their countries. The final session consisted of a panel discussion with a Q&A. The boot camp was led by 3 experts from the EBN network – Catherine Delevoye from technoport, C. César Yammal from Innovos Group S.A., and Douglas Thompson from SPI.

In addition to the capacity-building for the selected business incubators from the BIC Africa target countries (Angola, Ethiopia, Madagascar, and Somalia) delivered via European and African boot camps, BIC Africa is also launching soon the 3rd edition of the Women’s Acceleration Programme to support young and innovative startups.

BIC Africa is funded by the European Union and implemented by EBN.
